Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns (Rolls)

Servings: 16 buns

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups hot water
  • ¼ cup coconut or olive oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp gluten
  • 4½ cups whole wheat flour (minus 2 Tbsp)
  • 2 tsp instant yeast

Instructions

  • Put water, oil, honey, salt and vinegar in mixer
  • Add half of the flour
  • Put gluten and yeast on top
  • Add other flour until dough pulls away from sides of bowl.
  • Knead on low for 6 minutes.
  • Divide dough in half, divide in half again, etc. until you have 16 balls of the same size.
  • Place the balls on a large greased cookie sheet.
  • Place another empty cookie sheet on top to kind of smash the dough slightly and force the rising to go sideways making a bun shape.
  • Let rise until double.
  • Bake at 375°F for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • Rolls will be deeply golden and oh so yummy.
